(CHICAGO, IL: February 24, 2016): Hungry for Iceland, Chicago? As part of the Taste of Iceland festival taking place Thursday, March 17- Sunday, March 20, Icelandic Chef Thrainn Freyr Vigfússon, head chef at Blue Lagoon’s LAVA Restaurant, and Cité Restaurant Culinary Director Martial Noguier will assemble a four course prix fixe menu designed to give Chicago a taste of Icelandic cuisine.

Over the course of the four-day festival, the Taste of Iceland menu offers guests to Cité the opportunity to partake in the collaborative Taste of Iceland menu available for $70. Utilizing quintessential Icelandic ingredients and imported Icelandic proteins, Chef Vigfússon will work with Chef Noguier to put together a limited time menu available only during the festival dates of March 17 through March 20. The restaurant’s complete regular menu will also be available.

Known for his innovative approach and award-winning talent, Chef Vigfússon is a leading authority in Iceland’s culinary world, currently serving as the coach of the Icelandic Culinary Team. Vigfússon was named Icelandic Chef of the Year in 2007, participated in Bocuse d’Or Europe in 2011, and was awarded the silver medal for Scandinavian Chef of the Year in 2009. His culinary emphasis is on the New Nordic Cuisine, placing special emphasis on using natural, local ingredients.

Martial Noguier, Culinary Director at Cité, is working alongside Executive Chef Oscar Ornelas to create a new menu for the storied restaurant. Martial is also Executive Chef/Owner of Michelin’s Bib Gourmand-winning Bistronomic. He has earned three James Beard Foundation Award nominations. Originally hailing from Paris, France, Chef Noguier has served as Executive Chef and Corporate Chef at the Pump Room in the Omni Ambassador East hotel as well executive chef roles at one sixtyblue and Cafe des Architectes at the Sofitel Chicago Water Tower Hotel, where he received his first James Beard Foundation Award nomination among other recognitions.
